Our mission statement states, "Knox Christian School strives to provide our students with opportunities to develop as unique individuals, nurturing their God-given abilities and talents to equip them to live as responsible citizens and compassionate Christians within our modern society."
We seek to provide a Christian atmosphere that is conducive to teaching and learning so that each graduate will be given opportunities to gain the following characteristics:
Characteristics as they relate to God:
1. Begins to develop a deeper commitment to love and serve Jesus Christ.
Specifically, we want our students to first all make a commitment to following Jesus Christ. Then, we want our students to follow Him in all situations, conversations, and experiences.
2. Discovers and experiences the joys and wonders of God’s world.
Specifically, we want our students to study the creation in a way that gives them excitement for the way in which God has created our world. We want our students to marvel at the trees, the mountains, and the rocks. We want our students to celebrate sidewalks, houses, and snow.
Characteristics as they relate to others:
3. Exercises Christian morals, values, and discernment within our modern society.
Specifically, we want our students to evaluate various ideas and trends within our society. "What does the Bible say about this topic?" is a question that is asked frequently. We encourage our students to discuss and also act in a way that is consistent with a Christian lifestyle.
4. Fosters attitudes of compassion and respect.
Specifically, we want our students to demonstrate compassion when fellow human beings are hurting. We want our students to respect each other, their teachers, other adults, and themselves.
5. Develops understanding and appreciation of other personalities, communities, cultures, and religions.
Specifically, we want our students to view others as uniquely created by God. In studying others who may live life differently than we do, our students can experience an understanding and appreciation of who they are.
6. Demonstrates an awareness of responsible Christian service and witness.
Specifically, we want our students to live a life of service to God and others. We want our students to offer help to others freely, without being paid or coerced. We want our students to live a life that shows they are followers of Jesus Christ.
Characteristics as they relate to self:
7. Develops awareness of own learning style.
Specifically, we want our students to analyse who they are and how they have been created uniquely. Each student will learn in a different way, and we want our students to know themselves so well that they understand their learning style
8. Discovers and develop his/her gifts and talents and uses them to the fullest.
Specifically, we want our students to know their gifts and abilities. We want them to use those talents in the school and outside the school. We want to encourage them to discover and use those talents so that they are faithful to God with what they have been given.
9. Begins to freely and confidently express him/herself in all areas of being (academic, spiritual, physical, social, and emotional).
Specifically, we want our students to have a variety of experiences so that they can grow and develop in all areas. The education at Knox needs to be one that provides the students with an understanding of the academic, spiritual, physical, social, and emotional side of life
