Knox Christian School seeks to provide opportunities where staff and students reach out to others to show the love that God has for His world. The following descriptions highlight some of the ways in which our school community has tried to show that love.
Socks
Some of our classrooms have had a "sock challenge." The contest was between certain classrooms and the goal was to bring in as many pairs of new socks as possible. At the end of the contest, the socks were then brought to the Toronto Mission in downtown Toronto and given to homeless people.
School Supplies
At the beginning of the school year, our students were asked to bring extra school supplies to school. The extra supplies are collected for our sister school in the Dominican Republic named Sinai Christian School. We also support Sinai Christian School financially through an organization called "Worldwide Christian Schools."
Food Drive
At Thanksgiving, our students are asked to bring in a non-perishable food item. At our Thanksgiving Assembly, a representative from the Salvation Army comes to gladly accept the bags and boxes full of food for their mission.
Christmas
Each year, we identify a ministry in the community that needs our help. In the past, ministries such as Bethesda House (a shelter for abused women) and Gate 3:16 (a mission to street people in downtown Oshawa) have been supported.
