In order to apply for admission at Knox Christian School, at least one parent or guardian must be a Christian. The parent or guardian must believe in the Holy Bible. The statements from the Bible found below must form the core of the person’s beliefs:
✓ "In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth" (Genesis 1:1).
✓ "...For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:23).
✓ "For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life" (John 3:16).
✓ "For Christ died for sins once and for all" (1 Peter 3:18a).
✓ "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith–and this is not from yourselves, it is a gift from God–not by works so that no one can boast" (Ephesians 2:8).
✓ "...Our citizenship is in heaven. As we eagerly await a Saviour from there, the Lord Jesus Christ, who, by the power that enables him to bring everything under His control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like His glorious body" (Philippians 3:20 and 21).
In addition, the parent/guardian must agree with this statement:
✓ Jesus Christ is my personal Lord and Saviour.
1. An exception can be made at the discretion of the Board of Directors if it is determined that admission is beneficial for the student and the school.
2. Junior Kindergarten children must be at least four (4) years of age by December 31, Senior Kindergarten children should be five (5) years of age by December 31, and Grade one (1) students should be six (6) by December 31 of the year of entry into the grade level.
3. All new families enrolling their child(ren) in a school operated by BDCSS must pay a $1,000.00 enrolment fee to Bowmanville District Christian School Society (BDCSS) to be designated towards capital expenditures. This fee may be paid either in one lump sum due August 1 or equal instalments over a ten-month period with the first non-refundable $100 due August 1.
A. The funds are allocated towards capital expenditures and/or mortgage reduction.
B. Any previously donated amount to BDCSS from the applicant would be subtracted from the $1,000.00 enrolment fee.
C. Parents exempt from this fee are ones who transfer their child(ren) from Christian schools that are members of the following Christian school associations: Christian Schools International, Christian Schools Canada, or Association of Christian Schools International.
4. Should testing be required to determine the student’s needs and/or grade level, the applicant will be charged the additional costs of materials and Knox personnel.
5. The Board reserves the right to refuse any admission if it feels the school is unable to meet the needs of that particular child.
6. No child shall be excluded from enrolment at Knox Christian School on the basis of race, colour, or national origin.
Procedure
1. The parents contact the school, are provided with a school information package, and are invited to meet with the principal.
2. The parents meet with the principal to discuss the school’s mission, program, structure, parental expectations, and admission requirements. A tour of the school is given and any questions are answered.
3. Parents apply for enrolment of their child(ren) by completing and handing in the following application forms:
4. Parents apply for membership in Bowmanville District Christian School Society by completing and handing in the Membership Application Form (blue).
5. Once a positive principal’s recommendation is received, the Admission Committee meets with the parent(s) interested in enrolment or membership at the Orientation Evening in April.
6. The Board receives the recommendation and votes on the proposal. The Board informs the applicant of the decision.
